A Financial Accountant position has become available in my esteemed clients Finance department, specifically in their Retail (a business unit within the Group). The Financial Accountant will resume responsibility for approximately 13 stores across South Africa.This may increase or decrease in the future, depending on new stores that may open.
Important: The candidate needs to be in tune with robotic processes and automation. The client has changed manual processes through automation, they have started this 6 years ago, so quite far ahead of most finance departments and in the last year the use of a bot.
The Role will include the following duties and responsibilities but is not limited to:
- Day to day responsibilities:
Daily bank clearing for all other deposits and payments.
Assisting the stores with queries relating to customer card issues, refunds to customers or customer receipts.
Daily processing of payments to non-stock suppliers on behalf of the stores. This will include receiving and validating Tax Invoices, Supplier entity details and BBBEE certificates, for capturing to SAP.
- Monthly responsibilities:
Maintaining the Asset register for each store on SAP new assets, retirements and monthly depreciation.
Monthly review of stores income statement and ensure that all entries are recorded correctly.
Assisting the stores with Income statement queries and resolutions to such queries.
Monitor and query any variances to the stores budgets.
Balance sheet and Bank reconciliations completed on SAP monthly and in agreed time frame.
Resolving any balance sheet items within the following month.
Reconcile and complete monthly Vat return for the company.
Preparation of monthly management accounts by 7th month.
Attending monthly financial review meetings with directors.
Completion of Board Reports every 6 months.
- Adhoc Responsibilities:
Assisting with providing information with for Income Tax calculations
Assisting with all audit queries, in a timeous manner, at half year, interim and year end audit.Income statement training for store operators.
Assist Company Directors with queries.
Assist stores with annual budget process.
Preparation of final budget for all stores.
Requirements: Proficiency in English (read, write and speak).
Proven track record in an accounting role.Proficiency in MS Office and an accounting package.
High attention to detail and problem- solving skills.
Customer Service orientated and being able to communicate appropriately.
Relevant Accounting qualificationAble to cope under strict deadlines and manage high volumes of data.
Note the Group Finance department is required to work either Saturday or a Sunday (2 days per month) in order to provide support to all the stores
