Our client is a dynamic FMCG company known for its commitment to quality and innovation. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their finance team, supporting their mission to maintain efficient and accurate financial operations.
About the Role:As the Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of financial record-keeping, reporting, and reconciliations. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can effectively manage all aspects of bookkeeping, including management accounts, debtors, creditors, VAT, and tax compliance.
Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare monthly management accounts with detailed analysis and insights
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Conduct bank reconciliations and manage cash flow forecasts
- Assist the Financial Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee creditors and debtors functions, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Manage aged debtors and creditors reports, escalating issues when necessary
Tax & Compliance:
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory submissions
- Ensure compliance with SARS, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing supporting documentation as required
Additional Duties:
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and compliance
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and external financial institutions as required
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve efficiency and cost control
Key Requirements:
- Bookkeeping/Accounting qualification (Diploma, Degree, or similar)
- 5+ years of full-function bookkeeping experience, preferably in a similar FMCG industry
- Strong experience in management accounts, reconciliations, creditors, and debtors management
- Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling experience beneficial)
- Knowledge of tax regulations, VAT, and payroll processing
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure
- Highly organized and deadline-driven, with strong analytical skills
