Cash Office Clerk

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Cash Handling:
  • Balance cash drawers and reconcile daily receipts with sales.
  • Count, sort, and organize cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
  • Prepare and process bank deposits accurately and promptly.
  • Issue and manage petty cash funds, ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
  1. Record Keeping:
  • Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and discrepancies.
  • Generate and maintain financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Track and report any cash discrepancies to the appropriate department.
  1. Reconciliation:
  • Reconcile till balances at the start and end of shifts.
  • Perform periodic cash audits to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud or mismanagement.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between cash counts and recorded sales.
  1. Compliance:
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines for handling cash and maintaining financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations regarding financial transactions.
  1. Customer and Staff Interaction:
  • Assist customers and employees with cash-related inquiries or issues.
  • Collaborate with store management to resolve cash management issues.
  1. Security:
  • Follow strict security protocols to protect the company’s assets, such as locking safes and secure cash transfers.
  • Ensure that all transactions and financial activities are conducted with the highest level of confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education:
  • High school diploma
  1. Experience:
  • Prior experience in cash handling, banking, or financial services is typically required.
  • Experience in retail or office environments may be beneficial.
  1. Skills:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in using cash registers, financial software, and other office tools (e.g., Excel, accounting systems).
  1. Personal Attributes:
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness, especially in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
