Primary Location: Smelter Operations (Saldanha)
Position Summary
Responsible for refractory taphole, launder maintenance in Furnaces Areas & Ladle and Iron Launder maintenance in Iron Plant areas.
Qualification & Experience- Minimum Grade 12 (Mandatory)
- Supervisors or Candidates which completed Development Programme, Engineering or Production (Mandatory)
- Trades person will be an added advantage (Especially Refractory Mason Trade)
- Driver's License (Mandatory)
- 5+ years' Applicable Operational experience within a heavy industry/production/refractory environment (Mandatory)
- Computer Literacy (Mandatory)
- Taphole maintenance strategies
- Ladle and Iron Launder Maintenance strategies
- Knowledge and experience in Furnace lining breakouts and installations
- Knowledge of refractory material and installations
- People and performance management
- Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance and Time Managers Workplace will be added advantage.
- Development of people in their team
- Coordination of permits for planned work from the production / maintenance schedule
- Coordination of routine non-shift activities in support of SQLCT (safe quality low-cost tons)
- Implement minor plant optimization projects
- General administrative tasks
- Performance Management and Performance reviews
- Actively participate in teams training and development
- An optimised team structure is manned by staff that is motivated, empowered and lead by sound performance management and transformational leadership practices.
- Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans of subordinates.
- Assume responsibility for managing manpower, efficient resource allocation, declaration of competence and reduction of operating cost.
- Ensure all business operations adhere and comply with corporate governance, statutory, legal and other requirements.
- Adhere to OHS Act, company-specific SHE policies, procedures and legislation.
- Manage risk by assessing liabilities, reporting and monitoring standards, as well as attending to rehabilitation / environmental problems in line with Tronox standards.
- Accept responsibility for SHEQ by creating awareness and addressing all unsafe practices in a timeous manner. Implement and maintain audit structure.
- Drive research and development initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and enhanced performance.
- Keep abreast of new developments and potential threats within designated area are identified and addressed timeously.
- Benchmark plant / mining activities and track performance to indicate improvement opportunities.
- Achieve production targets through optimum output.
- Ensure operational efficiency and quality.
- Assume responsibility for coordinating first line maintenance to limit plant / equipment downtime.
- Control stock levels (where applicable)
