Litigation Legal Secretary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document preparation:
  • Drafting and formatting legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, briefs, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Proofreading documents for accuracy and compliance with legal formatting standards.
  • Compiling and organizing legal documents within case files.
  • Case management:
  • Opening new case files, recording relevant details, and updating case management systems.
  • Tracking deadlines, court dates, and important milestones in litigation cases.
  • Maintaining detailed case files with proper organization and indexing.
  • Scheduling and Communication:
  • Scheduling court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and conferences.
  • Communicating with clients to provide updates on case progress and gather necessary information.
  • Contacting opposing counsel and other parties to coordinate legal matters.
  • Administrative Tasks:

MINIMUM CRITERIA:

  • Proficient typing and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Communication skills: Clear and professional verbal and written communication with clients, attorneys, and opposing counsel. (Afrikaans & English)
  • Legal knowledge: Basic understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
  • Valid Driver's License / Own Transport
  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience
