Specialist, Operation MH III (Material Handling)
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling Operations Management:
Oversee the operation of various material handling equipment and systems, includingconveyors, cranes, forklifts, automated storage and retrieval systems, and other
specialized material handling technologies.
Develop and implement operating procedures, work instructions, and standard operatingprotocols to ensure the safe and eicient operation of material handling equipment.
Monitor and optimize the performance of material handling systems, making adjustmentsto operating parameters and control strategies as needed to meet production goals and
minimize disruptions.
Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the timely execution of
preventive and corrective maintenance activities on material handling equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment availability.
Capacity and Throughput Optimization:
Analyze material flow data, equipment utilization metrics, and operational performanceindicators to identify opportunities for improving the eiciency and throughput of material
handling systems.
Develop and implement material handling optimization strategies, such as layout androuting adjustments, load balancing, and material flow synchronization, to enhance the
overall productivity and responsiveness of the organization's logistics and supply chain
operations.
Collaborate with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material handlingoperations with changing production schedules, customer demands, and supply chain
requirements.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of material handling systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to addressoperational issues.
Participate in the evaluation and selection of new material handling technologies, equipment, and automation solutions to enhance the organization's operationalcapabilities and competitiveness.
Contribute to the development and implementation of pilot projects and proof-of-conceptinitiatives to test and validate innovative material handling strategies and technologies.
Provide technical expertise and operational insights to cross-functional teams involved inthe design, implementation, and optimization of material handling systems.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
Develop and deliver training programs to equipment operators, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure the safe and eective operation of material handlingsystems.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing by documenting bestpractices, troubleshooting techniques, and operational insights related to material
handling equipment and systems.
Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for material handling-relatedinquiries, providing technical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocolsrelated to the operation of material handling equipment, such as OSHA, ANSI, and
industry-specific requirements.
Implement and enforce safety protocols, work permits, and operational procedures tomaintain a safe work environment for material handling activities.
Collaborate with the safety and risk management teams to identify and mitigate potential
hazards associated with material handling operations, and to develop and implement
appropriate control measures.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging material handling technologies, and bestpractices in logistics and supply chain management.
Identify opportunities for process optimization, system upgrades, and technology adoption to enhance the organization's material handling capabilities, efficiency, andresponsiveness.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and management teams to evaluate andimplement innovative solutions that address evolving business needs related to material
handling operations.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience as a Material Handling Specialist or Operator, with a strong background in the operation and optimization of material handling systems and equipment.
- Thorough understanding of material handling principles, including equipment operation,material flow dynamics, process optimization, and performance measurement.
- Proficient in the use of material handling equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, conveyors,and automated storage and retrieval systems.
- Skilled in the interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation related to material handling systems.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve operational issues on material handling equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols related to material handling operations.
- Experience in developing and implementing operating procedures, work instructions, and training programs for material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance monitoring, with the ability to use relevant software and systems to track and optimize material handling operations.
- Certification in Material Handling and Logistics (e.g., Certified Material Handling and Logistics Professional) is highly desirable.
- Experience with industrial automation and control systems, as they relate to material handling equipment, is a plus.
