QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 / equivalent
• National diploma or degree relevant to Procurement will be an advantage.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of 10 years experience as a Steel Mill Buyer is essential.
• Experience with imports and exports.
• Strong negotiating and sourcing skills.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong knowledge of steel materials, grades, specifications, and production processes.
• Microsoft Office packages especially Excel (Intermediate-Advanced).
• Syspro and Q-Docs would be advantageous.
• Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct.
• Negotiation skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Placing of mill orders.
• Checking of inventory levels.
• Check pricing.
• Stay abreast with market trends.
• Tracking of stock.
• Planning loads with mills and warehouse for collection and delivery.
• Purchase order maintenance.
• Updating admin spreadsheets.
• Follow up with buying team on open purchase orders weekly.
• Follow up with sales team on open sales orders weekly.
• Submit mill claims and follow up.
