Bookkeeper - Ecommerce

My client, a reputable retail chain, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their Group Finance Team based in Cape Town CBD. This role supports the financial management of the head office business operations. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a financial role, with bookkeeping / processing experience, as well as strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Budgeting: Support the finance team in preparing budgets
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process and track payments for group expenses, including supplier invoices, utilities, and other overheads, as well as monitor incoming payments from retail locations and online channels
• Group VAT: Support the preparation of VAT filings for the entire group
• Intercompany Transactions: Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across different retail divisions, ensuring accurate processing and documentation
• Month-End & Year-End Closing: Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy in financial data and compliance with internal controls
• Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing documents and records for external audits, ensuring all necessary financial data is available and compliant with industry standards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial role, with bookkeeping / processing experience
• Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero); Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
• Desirable Experience: Tax & Compliance Knowledge (familiarity with VAT); Experience with Multi-Location Finance
