Junior Mechanical Design Engineer / Graduate

We are a well-established international Defence Industry company, seeking an exceptional Junior Mechanical Designer to become part of our dynamic team, specializing in the design and development of land-based defense systems. Responsibilities:
- Technical Drawings: Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings of vehicle components, assemblies, and systems, based on design engineer specifications.
- CAD Modelling: Use CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to design and modify technical drawings for new and existing systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to ensure that drawings reflect design intent and meet performance and technical criteria.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all technical drawings and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
- Revisions & Updates: Update and refine drawings based on feedback from engineers, testing teams, and other departments.
- Manufacturing Support: Provide clear and precise drawings to the manufacturing team, ensuring they meet production and quality standards. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, such as welding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication, is essential.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, military specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Material Specifications: Assist the design team by specifying materials, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure proper manufacturing and assembly of components.
- Team Support: Support senior draughtsmen and design engineers during the design and development process.
- Project Management: Assist in managing the design process from concept to production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and technical requirements are met. Support project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor is preferred).
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering designs and schematics.
- High attention to detail and precision in producing accurate drawings.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues in assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree Essential
- Matric with average of 85% or higher essential
Additional Information:
