Payroll Operations Manager

My client is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Manager to oversee their payroll transition to an outsourced provider and ensure the smooth operation of payroll processes.
This role is vital in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely payroll delivery while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Transition Management: Lead the transition to an outsourced payroll system, establishing procedures and communicating changes to stakeholders.
- Payroll Setup and Compliance: Ensure payroll is correctly set up to meet business requirements, processing accurately and in compliance with legislation.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and address issues during the payroll transition and ongoing operations.
- Service Level Agreements: Set up and monitor SLAs with the service provider, ensuring deliverables are met.
- Annual Planning: Schedule and communicate annual payroll deadlines to the business.
- Payroll Processing: Review payroll files daily, manage approvals, and oversee the loading of bank files for payments.
- Audit Management: Manage the annual payroll audit process, ensuring compliance and addressing findings.
- Policy Development: Regularly review and enhance payroll policies and procedures, keeping abreast of relevant legislation.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with various service providers and manage relationships with the outsourced payroll provider and benefit service providers.
- Reporting and Analysis: Compile data for monthly reports and conduct analyses to support management decision-making.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the payroll team, ensuring performance objectives are met and providing necessary training and support.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Relevant degree in finance.
- 10 years proven experience in payroll management, ideally in an outsourced environment.
- Must come from a Shared Services environment is non-negotiable
- Must be proficient in PaySpace Payroll software.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
