Financial Manager

Job purpose

The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the companys growth and profitability.

Duties and responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

1. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
2. Interpret and apply IFRS accounting standards.
3. Review and maintenance of relevant General Ledger reconciliations.
4. Review and maintenance of Fixed Assets for Manufacturing operations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

1. Develop and manage the companys annual budget and financial forecasts.
2. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
3. Forecast and evaluate financial performance.
4. Compilation and evaluation of forecast, targets and budget at SBU and Cost centre level.

Financial Analysis:

1. Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions.
2. Analyse financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Compliance:

1. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and standards.
2. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
3. Risk management and control.
4. Overall responsibility for financial controls and corporate governance compliance.
5. Raising and maintenance of FOREX requirements.

Cash Flow Management:

1. Monitor and manage the companys cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
2. Optimize the companys working capital.

Cost Management:

1. Oversee cost control and reduction initiatives.
2. Accurate interpretation of and analysis of variances, e.g. OPEX, Cost of Sales.
3. Compile relevant management information for use on cost control and evaluation.
4. Management of Debtors and Creditors.

Evaluate and improve financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency:

1. Implement, improve, design and audit Internal Controls.
2. Implement, maintain and improve various financial control systems.

Payroll and Taxation:

1. Manage payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and benefits.
2. Oversee tax planning and compliance.
3. Manage Statutory Tax returns.

Strategic Planning:

1. Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic business plans.
2. Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives.

Team Leadership:

1. Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.

• Bachelors degree in Finance or a National Diploma: Financial Information Systems qualification (from a university) is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Financial Manager or similar role, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and financial regulations in South Africa.
• Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Systems design orientated.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
