Pizza Commis Chef (Delaire Graff Restaurant)

We are opening a new pizza restaurant and are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pizza Commis Chef to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about learning the art of pizza-making in a fast-paced, 5-star kitchen.
You'll work closely with experienced chefs, gaining hands-on experience with dough preparation, cooking techniques, and ingredient handling. If you're eager to develop your skills in a luxury dining environment, we’d love to hear from you!
Main responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and cooking pizzas, following the guidance of senior chefs and ensuring high standards of quality, flavour, and presentation.
- Support dough preparation, including mixing, kneading, and portioning, while learning key techniques in fermentation and proofing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pizza section, ensuring all equipment and tools are cleaned and ready for use during service.
- Prepare ingredients for pizzas, slicing vegetables, meats, and cheese, ensuring everything is fresh and prepped according to the Head Chef's specifications.
- Assist in monitoring stock levels, alerting senior chefs when ingredients need to be ordered and helping to reduce waste.
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Support senior chefs during service, helping to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of pizzas to maintain the restaurant’s luxury experience.
Main requirements:
- Culinary Certificate/Diploma
- Preferably 1-2 years previous experience as a Commis Chef with focus on pizza-making
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm, professional demeanour.
- Ability to follow instructions from senior chefs and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
- Creativity and passion for pizza-making, with a desire to innovate while honouring authentic techniques.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive attitude and the desire to support the kitchen team in delivering exceptional service.
