Senior Manager Operations

A specialized IT training company that provides an unmatched suite of vendor authorised and award-winning training, enablement and certification solutions has an opportunity for a Senior Manager Operations in Gauteng.

The SMO is responsible for the leadership and management of the operations of the organisation aligned to the strategic direction set by the EXCO. In this role, the SMO exercises independent judgment and discretion in:

• The development, communication and execution of an operational business plan aligned to the overall business strategy;
• Driving client engagement and service delivery excellence
• Operational delivery of the Key Business Imperatives
• Supporting Business Unit Managers with VPA (Vendor Partner Agreements) implementation
• Financial performance; and
• People management
• University degree or equivalent
• Hands on experience as General Manager and/or 5 years’ field experience

Operational risk and management compliance:

• Displays an integrated understanding of the interdependencies of operational risk and compliance, including but not limited to brand risk and employee or learner relations risk, ensuring that processes are in place that effectively anticipate, identify and mitigate exposures to such risk

Strategy formulation, Implementation and decision making:

• Contributes to the development and refinement of the company’s vision and strategy
• Supports the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure that the company maximises its short, medium and long-term profitability and returns to shareholders
• Develops, reviews and reports on the operations strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the business
• Identifies information gaps and gathers the required information to understand strategic issues
• Organises information and data to identify and explain major trends, problems and their causes.
• Compares, contrasts and combines information to identify underlying causes
• Establishes an implementation plan by identifying the key tasks and resources necessary to achieve desired objectives
• Ensures the execution of developed strategic initiatives.
• Monitors results and adjusts as required.

Commercial:

• Ensures pricing and discounting policies in place.

Vendor Partnerships Agreement Portfolio Alignment:

• Oversees the overall effectiveness of the VPAs across all technologies and makes recommendations if any technologies need to be retired, taking into account GP% and market potential.

Leadership:

• Ensures a climate and culture is created in the region that fosters a close working relationship between operations and the regional growth team.
• Provides input into the development of solutions and creates presentations for potential clients.
• Along with the Business Unit Managers, works closely with the growth team to close deals in order for segment sales targets to be achieved.

People Management:

• Responsible for establishing a positive work environment that results in a committed, motivated, and performance driven regional operations team.
• Ensures that a high calibre regional OPSCO team is in place.
• Effective leadership and management of the regional OPSCO team to drive the day-to-day operations KPIs and achievement of the regional business plan.
• Ensures regional adherence to all HR policies, processes and SOPs.
• Ensures that the required regional talent development and succession plan is in place, and supported by individual development plans for each employee.
